Girls Inc. is partnering with Base IT, Inc. to bring the CoderDojo global movement to Bay County. CoderDojo is a free, volunteer led, community based programming club for young people designed to teach them a variety of coding languages including Scratch, HTML, Arduino and so much more.
“Base IT, Inc. is a new local nonprofit dedicated to helping Bay County students access more careers in the IT field. Last summer they reached out to Girls Inc. about how to get more girls involved” said Niki Kelly, Executive Director of Girls Inc. of Bay County. “As we discussed a variety of possible projects, the idea of starting our own CoderDojo came up. It fits perfectly within our Operation SMART programming, looks to be totally fun, and has room for growth.”
